How do I continue to be a Referee each year?
If you are a currently-registered USSF Referee whose badge expires at the end of this calendar year, then you must complete the annual requirements for your Grade level.
Referee Grades 8 and 9, & Emeritus grades 13, 14, 15 and 16
Accumulate five(5) hours of in-service training within the past 12 months. What "counts"? Essentially almost all Clinics will count, except Entry Level Clinics (Grade 8 or Grade 9)
Take the written Recertification Test. This test is typically offered at monthly Referee Chapter Meetings and during Session 6 of the Entry Level Grade 8 clinics. It can also be offered at most (but not all) Intermediate, Advanced and Recert Clinics.
Fill out the USSF Registration Form, available here.
Fill out the WASRC Recertification form, available here. This is where you document your 5 hours of in-service training.
Submit the above documents together with the appropriate Fees to the Area Referee Administrator for your locality.
If you plan on working Youth matches, then you need to have a current Risk Management Authorization (RMA) on file.
Referee Grade 7Grade 7 referees must also run and pass the USSF Fitness Test. The results should be included in your WASRC Recertification Form.
Referee Grade 6 and higherIn addition to the above, referees grade 6 and above must pass a Maintenance Assessment in order to to recertify each year for these grades.
